Healing Services

A service for wholeness and healing is held on the third Sunday of each month, at 11:15 a.m. in the Sanctuary.  The service is immediately following the morning worship service.

Services for wholeness and healing are provided for in the Presbyterian Book of Order and Book of Common Worship.  Services at Outer Banks Presbyterian Church began about two years ago following a Session Retreat and Session’s approval and appointment of a committee  to plan the services.

Healing was an integral part of the ministry of Jesus which the church has been called to continue as one dimension of its concern for the wholeness of people.  These services are open to all persons.  The vital element of worship in the service for healing and wholeness is prayer since this is essentially a time of waiting in faith upon God.

The wholeness and healing services are under the direction of the pastor, the Rev. Jody Moore. Elders of the church also participate.  Time for silent prayer and spoken prayer is provided.  Enacted prayer in the form of laying on of hands and anointing with oil, if requested and desired, is provided.  Thanksgiving for God’s promise of wholeness, intercessions, and supplications is offered.  Services at Outer Banks Presbyterian are informal gatherings designed to teach and give participants an opportunity to experience healing as the gift of God through the power of the Holy Spirit.

All persons who feel the need for God’s healing and wholeness for themselves or for others for physical, emotional, or any other needs are welcomed to attend.
